How It Works
From customer reviews to public recognition
Five stages, the same for every business, in every state.
The process
Five stages
The process is the same whether a business was submitted or found through public data.
- 1
Discovery
Businesses enter the program through public listings or a free submission from anyone.
- 2
Data review
We read the customer rating, the number of reviews and how complete the public Google Maps listing is.
- 3
Scoring
The published formula produces a Recognition Score out of 100 for each business.
- 4
Minimum check
A business needs a 4.0 rating, 5 reviews and a score of 70 to move forward.
- 5
Publication
Qualifying businesses receive a directory profile and a unique verification ID.
Our commitments
Rules we never bend
Never for sale

Always public
Methodology and verification stay open to everyone.
Questions
Process questions
Does a business need to apply?
No. Anyone can submit a business, but public data can also bring a business into the program.
How long does recognition last?
Recognition is awarded for a calendar year. Each year is evaluated on its own.
Can a score be improved by paying?
No. Purchases have no effect on scores, status or directory position.
Know a business that deserves it?
Submit it for review. It is free and takes a couple of minutes.
